Hello! I was given this product and these are my honest opinions. I am 39 years old, East Asian complexion and use sunscreen daily. My skin issues are: deep ice-pick scarring from teenage acne, hyperpigmentation (est. bag under eyes and due to more recent hormonal acne), and sun spots. I noticed that this product helped reduce the hyperpigmentation under my eyes/even out my skin tone, but surprisingly, also, reduced the appearance of the deep ice pick acne scarring, and smoothed out that skin. This was after using the product 3x weekly for four weeks.
SmoothSkin's DuoLux LED Eye Patches + Hydrocolloids is "Clinically proven patented combination of red-light therapy + hydrocolloid patches to brighten, firm & de-puff under eyes in just 6 weeks."
It wasn't clear when I should use this in my daily skincare routine, before or after my topicals. In the first session, I used this before my topical routine. This was a bad idea, when peeling it off, the pads pulled at the delicate skin under my eyes. The following sessions, I used this in the evening, after applying serum, toner and moisturizer. The pads were much easier to remove in this scenario.
The instructions say that users saw benefits when the product is used 3-5x weekly over 6 weeks. When emailing the company, more than once they said only four weeks were needed. So, that is confusing and either the instructions or the talking points need to change.
The product comes with 24 hydrocolloid pads, two charging cords, and the two LED eye patches. One hydrocolloid pad is used as a tester, so you really only have 11 pairs/uses. When used 3x weekly, this means you have 3-4 weeks of usage. This isn't enough time to see results, based on the instructions. It's not a great customer experience when you shell out $200 for a product and you need to purchase more pads before seeing results. So, once again, it would be nice to have enough pads (3x, 6 weeks, plus test, or 37 pads) or update the instructions. The pads are also individually wrapped and causes a lot of packaging debris. Since two is needed per session, it would be nice to combine two patches into one package.
The instructions say that the LED eye patches need to be charged every 3-4 uses. I found this to be true, I needed to charge the LEDs every three uses. The charge cords are annoying to use, you need to provide two bricks, or one that has two USB inputs. My recommendation would be to combine the cords into one and split it.
Overall, I'm very happy with this product and will be ordering refills!
